So the difference between a comforter with 550 fill power down and a comforter with 700 fill power down is that the 700 fill power down comforter will be lighter for the same warmth rating. A high fill power will provide more insulating ability for a given weight of down.
More appropriate for moderate weather. Fill power of more than 600 and less than 700 is considered high quality and is often prioritized. Luxury down comforters will often have a fill power rating of 700 or above.
These outlast downs with a lower rating which have smaller and more fragile clusters of down. Fill power represents quality loft and how warm a down comforter will sleep. Higher fill powers around 700 means a warmer and lighter blanket.
